Poem Per Day/ April 14th, 2011 – Greg Dybec

THINGS I SEE WHEN I GO TO WALMART/ Greg Dybec

A woman unable to acknowledge her fat son’s humanity

so she loads the cart with sweets and cakes and maple syrup.

A woman unable to acknowledge her fat daughter’s humanity

so she loads the cart with sweets and cakes and maple syrup.

A woman unable to acknowledge her fat self’s humanity

so she loads the cart with sweets and cakes and maple syrup.

A man.

A dog with a leash.

A fat man.

Whipped cream next to olives.
